… and ate at a restaurant with a plane sticking out the side. The plane in question is actually a Texas Air Guard plane Good choice if you ask me! Sorry, no picture for now, needs a bit of tweaking!

And we enjoyed a couple hours with my friend April who drove down from the Mile High City area to see us since we weren’t going to be able to swing a few hours there tomorrow.

Hey April, one of these days you’ll have your license to fly planes … although much smaller! We’ll have to arrange for you to give me an aerial tour so I can really capture Colorado’s harder to reach beauty!

For those curious and not in the know, we’re headed northwest for the next few days … some really gorgeous scenery to be featured over the next few days, so don’t forget to check back for the images! And remember — LEAVE COMMENTS! For every 25 left, a charity (preselected) benefits! Don’t let them down!!!!

Bright and early this morning we left East Texas with plans of stopping somewhere in Kansas for the night. The route I had in mind was scrapped by the primary driver, which resulted in not only a fourteen hour drive but something else.

Let’s just say the next time I travel through Kansas, I’m taking the interstate. And bringing a gas mask.

As a result, my poor brain is frazzled. And we have another long day ahead tomorrow. So I’m leaving the dslr packed up and posting one picture tonight from the point and shoot …

Meet Domo. Behind him is Kansas at 70 mph. If you run your cursor over the recently link above, you’ll see my twitter feed … which I’m texting updates from the road. Today’s are somewhat interesting …

Speaking of which, there might be two postcard sets upon return. The limited edition and the ‘blurred America’ set. Despite being photographed at 70 mph, they’re actually kinda neat

I should have a much better post tomorrow night … as well as more (and better) photos! Happy weekend!!

Updated — okay, so I found a brief second wind … here are a few photos from Friday with descriptions!

A scenic turnout in the Arbuckle Mountains. Yes, that is a very large dandilion … as big as my fist.

A wheat field in Kansas. The wheat isn’t quite as golden b/c of the window tint!

Greensburg, Kansas. View the before and after aerial images of the destruction caused by a F5 tornado in 2007. Seeing how much of the town is gone brought tears to my eyes and made me thankful I haven’t had to live through a natural disaster this bad …

In front of a building in Greensburg, Kansas

If you’re following my twitter feed (see under recently on the menu at the top of the page) … you’ll see a tweet regarding a person with some serious issues mentioned. This is what I was referring to– this is the ‘tamer’ signs displayed stretching several hundred feet. Some, in my opinion, were downright vulgar and won’t be given the time of day in terms of my posting images of them.

Now … I’m crashing for the evening … g’nite folks!
