You know a session is going to turn out awesome when you open up an email with the client info form and find that the bride-to-be describes her fiance as “Dan the Outdoors Man” and the gender of the session participants as “chick” and “dude.” The session didn’t disappoint as at least one of us was constantly laughing. Here’s just a few of the awesome images from their engagement session!

April & Brody | Colorado Destination Engagement Photography

April is one of my dearest friends — has been for the last seven years! I’ve watched her go through so many ups and downs over the last few years, so when she told me that her and Brody were talking about marriage, I was ecstatic to see her so happy. Last Friday, April and Brody made their commitment to one another official, and while I couldn’t be there for their nuptials, I’m so very honored to have captured their engagement portraits while I was in Colorado several weeks ago. Here’s just a few of my favorites!

Last year, my mother told me she wanted portraits of her and my father for their 30th anniversary. And so I complied. However, as one image gives away, my father wasn’t the most cooperative of subjects … so we tried again this year, with the stipulation that he wasn’t allowed to do four simple things: (1) talk while the camera was covering my face, (2) ask how his hair (i.e. sideburns) looked, (3) wear his baseball cap, or (4) raise that stinkin eyebrow to crack me up and thus ruin a perfectly composed shot. He failed at the last two …

The results …

Updated to add … wasn’t liking how the black & white version looked on an uncalibrated monitor, so here’s the color version!

*sigh* the hat … at least it matches the train car …

I haven’t a clue what she’s looking at (on the left), I think she snuck a peek at some of the photography blogs I visit (for some posing inspiration) ;) On the right, he’s watching the birds fly over!

For well over a year now, Amanda has been wanting to have portraits done of just her and Dave (their first portraits together since their wedding five years ago) … and finally it worked out for all of our schedules! The first half of their session was just the two of them … and the second half Miss B joined in for some family fun.

Now to add Miss B to the mix!

I’m afraid that I started something … apparantly Miss B wants a slide now …

Leigh and Jerald were my first two clients after I ‘opened the doors’ to ROLP (the predecessor to CMP) in 2007. I photographed their surprise (to them) 30th anniversary party and vow renewal ceremony. So, not long after their most recent anniversary we met up bright and early to capture them again in a more casual setting!

Loving the lens flare lately — this is another 8 am session that made it possible!

Cherry Street | Athens Texas Photographer

Tuesday night I shared a few images from Randy and Melinda’s Route 66 themed portrait session in Tulsa … here’s the rest from the Cherry Street area!

We came across this mural, which had just been painted last year. Seeing as Melinda’s favorite color is purple, it was a must for a backdrop!

The dad-to-be …

(This one’s my favorite! Its a Vespa mirror, couldn’t resist! Although it did take some bouncing up on my tiptoes to nail the shot …)

I spotted this British telephone booth on the way over to Melinda’s alma mater, Booker T. Washington High School, and was insistent they were gonna pose with it! If there had only been room in both their car and mine, it might have possibly found its way back to East Texas …

Earlier this month while I was in Oklahoma, I captured some updated portraits for Randy and Melinda. I convinced Melinda into a Route 66 themed photo session, so nearly all the backdrops are along one of the routes that the old Mother Road took through Tulsa … tonight is part one, which took place inside and outside of Tally’s Cafe; on Thursday, I’ll feature some from along Cherry Street as well as near 11th Street (closer to downtown).

Barely getting this posted under the wire …

Today — what most of you are celebrating as Cinco de Mayo has been a different celebration in my family — as it is my parents’ anniversary. Thirty years ago today, they married in a small chapel just north of the courthouse square. A few weeks ago, we went out for a portrait session (I thought Robby was a tough person to photograph — well, until I tried photographing my parents together, that is!)

I have some great outtakes, but I’ve been ordered not to post them if I value my life. I, obviously, do value it enough not to post the best ones, but this one’s tame enough to share … without the risk of becoming a victim of a homicide or being disowned …

This last one was captured by Robby as they walked away from the chapel where they married …
