As mentioned in yesterday’s announcement, I will be leaving the state of Texas (woohoo!!) in the pre-dawn hours today for a two week roadtrip — to be referred to hereonafter as The Roadtrip.
The Roadtrip involves ten months of planning, one SUV with four travel companions (including myself), eighteen days , nine states, two provinces, four (maybe five) national parks (and maybe one provincial park), a boat (hopefully!), a bus, a whole lotta mountains, several cameras, 36 GB of memory cards (just for my two SLRs!), a combined hard & usb drive storage space nearing 1 TB, and by the end, probably four sets of shot nerves as well. Oh — and this blog!
On the evenings when I have internet access, I will post a few images from the day’s activities along with some details from that day’s adventures. I will also be twittering from the road some trivia facts about where we’ve been so far.
How does this benefit or affect you? Well, there’s two ways …

After 50 comments received: another $25 will be donated to the Veterans of Foreign Wars
After 75 comments received: another $25 will be donated to the Paralyzed Veterans of America
After 100 comments received: another $25 will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project
After 125 comments received: another $25 will be donated to the Humane Society of the United States
After 150 comments received: another $25 will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital
So — help me reach 150 comments so that all of these charities will benefit!
(for the curious wondering why these charitable choices are near and dear to me – my father served in the US Army in Vietnam in the late 1960s + I heart my fur babies + after near health scares during mine and my brother’s childhoods, I don’t want any child to go without needed healthcare when their families can’t afford it!)
(1b) And — as an extra incentive for readers/visitors – one random commenter (US Residents only!) on The Roadtrip posts will be selected to receive of one of the images I post from the trip (winner will select the image of their choice — no ‘people’ pictures) as a mounted 11×14 premium print (valued at $65). Winner will be posted here on the blog on Independence Day aka July 4th!

For the curious — images from the trip as well as a limited edition postcard set (identical to the one that will be given away) will be available for purchase after I return home and painstakingly decide what images to select for the postcards.
